I've been studying archetypes and how they can help relate to your website copy, marketing materials and clients. The learning process has helped me to clearly see who my target market is and what my clients really want; it can do the same for you.
As I have said before, I am NOT a copywriter. I make many mistakes, I'm sure, when I write my newsletters and emails, but having this piece of the puzzle has helped me get very clear on certain words I should use and those I should not use.
If you don't know what an Archetype is: "it's an original model of a person, ideal example, or a prototype upon which others are copied, patterned, or emulated; a symbol universally recognized by all. In psychology, an archetype is a model of a person, personality, or behavior." Thank you Wikipedia!
I can't get into all the different types in one article, but what I see the most in my assessments are Magician and Chief/Ruler. Magicians are all about transformation, change in themselves and others. They are lead by their heart and spirit. You will find most healers and coaches have the Magician Archetype. The Chief/Ruler archetype is a great client to have if you are looking for leaders who are decision maker and action takers. Even if your clients don't have this market type, you still want to sprinkle words in your copy that will attract the Chief/Ruler!
Even if archetypes are not something you hear a lot about in your research on how to best market your business and attract the right clients, it is something that is very worthwhile for you to be aware of, as you move forward in growing your business. Just because it is not something that is routinely mentioned in literature that you come across when looking for great marketing tools, that does not mean it's not a useful tool that people are using to their benefit. The only way for you to know if the knowledge of the various archetypes is something that you can use effectively is for you to do some research and try it for yourself!
It's, of course, not an exact science, but it truly can help you target your brand to attract your ideal clients, and that means more money in the bank.
